As the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
In addition to the practical benefits of preparation, communities of faith have an additional motivation: advance planning and preparation helps us help others. In the critical moments, days, and months following a crisis event, established plans can save precious time and resources and can make responses more efficient.
In cooperation with Week of Compassion’s Willing to Respond program, the Service, Learning, Advocacy, and Mission (SLAM) Team of the Michigan Region of the Christian Church and the Christian Church in Illinois and Wisconsin is inviting congregations and individuals interested in preparing to respond to disasters in our local communities to join together.
Signing up as part of a team focused on preparing to respond will allow us to serve our neighbors more faithfully. If you are an interested individual or congregation in Illinois and Wisconsin please contact SLAM Chair Laura Jennison Reed at lmjreed@gmail.com
